The Community Visual Arts Show has gone digital!

Where: The QAF 2020 online exhibition and QAF social media platforms.
When: July 16 – July 26.
Submission deadline: June 30.

There is one week left to submit to Pride in Art’s first-ever online Community Visual Arts Show! The community exhibition honours organization founder, activist, and Two-Spirit artist Robbie Hong’s legacy with an open community exhibition.

Queer Arts Festival 2020 has shifted to a virtual platform. The newly-minted virtual Community Visual Arts Show presents unique advantages for our artists. Without the limitations of a physical venue, the Community Visual Art Show is open to more artists and a wider range of format!

  • All we need are images (around 1500-2000 pixels wide / any height)  (or videos!).
  • No framing or delivery of artwork.
  • We encourage visual artists of all media to apply. 
  • Artists can live anywhere – we are accepting submissions internationally and the exhibition will be available internationally.
  • Artist profiles will be showcased on social media and featured on our new virtual exhibition website during the festival July 16 to July 26.

Submit below by July 2. Submission fees are pay-what-you-can, with no one turned away for lack of funds.

Submission Checklist:
  1. Complete the Online Submission Form below (or go to: https://forms.gle/ZqSb1ycVuRjrLEFu5 ). Submissions are accepted via online registration only. Please fill out the information in the appropriate fields.
  2. Email the following files with the subject line “Community Show Submission” to submission@queerartsfestival.com
    • digital images of artwork(s) being submitted for consideration. Format: JPG (no larger than 200 kb per image). All image files must be clearly titled with artist name_work title_year of creation, or the submission will not be accepted.
    • a 75-word Artist Bio
    • an Artist Statement pertaining to the work submitted
  3. Pay the submission fee (see below for payment options)

Submission fee:

$0-35 Pay what you can, by cheque to Pride in Art, or click “Donate Now” below. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. $35 is the usual submission fee for an exhibition of this kind, to help cover:

  • Pride in Art Society membership fee
  • Coordination costs for the exhibition
  • Promotional expenses (posters, website, brochures, publicist)
