The Chippewa Travellers and the Allegra Chamber Orchestra perform cellist/composer Cris Derksen’s Juno-nominated composition. Cellist/composer Cris Derksen performs with Allegra Chamber Orchestra and The Chippewa Travellers in this chamber symphonic work composed around Powwow pieces accessed from Tribal Spirit’s library. This project brings Aboriginal music to the centre of the European model as aboriginal artists lead the way to create new forms of music. Site-specific and culturally-focused teaching through storytelling from local media artist and ethnobotanist Cease Wyss. T’uy’tanat-Cease Wyss, Skwxwu7mesh/Sto: Lo/ Hawaiian/Swiss Individual, who is a media artist with 25 years of experience, producing various formats of media art, as well as being a mentor in her field for close to 15 years.
